  1. How old is the youngest child at home? (required question)

    It is the youngest child's age that sets how much handling the cat has to tolerate.

  2. Do you have other pets? Multiple answers allowed

    Living with a dog calls for a breed that tolerates other species. With a cat already at home, what matters is how well it gets on with its own kind.

  3. How much experience do you have with cats? (required question)

    A first cat is easier with a steady, undemanding breed. Experienced owners can handle more demanding breeds (Bengal, Abyssinian).

Your rhythm and your budget

The time, the money and the play you can put in, honestly.

  1. What monthly budget do you have in mind? (required question)

    Covers premium food, litter, predictable vet care and optional pet insurance. Long-haired and health-sensitive breeds push vet costs up. A tight budget (under 50 €) also caps the maximum weight of suggested breeds at 6 kg, a mid-range budget (50 to 100 €) at 9 kg; above 100 €/month, the answer no longer affects the selection.

  2. How much time a day can you spend with your cat? (required question)

    Some breeds (Siamese, Oriental) suffer from long stretches alone. Others (European Shorthair, Chartreux) are more self-sufficient.

  3. What kind of play and activity will you share? (required question)

    Cats differ a lot here: a Persian enjoys quiet company, a Bengal or an Abyssinian asks for active play sessions several times a day.

    Allergies = strict filter: only hairless breeds (Sphynx, Donskoy, Peterbald) and breeds reputedly better tolerated (Siberian, Neva Masquerade, Russian Blue, Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, Balinese, Bengal) are shown, to be tested before adoption. The other options weigh heavily on the scoring.

  3. How much time will you give to the coat? (required question)

    Long-haired cats (Persian, Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest) need daily brushing. Short-haired breeds (European Shorthair, Bengal) are almost self-maintaining.

  4. What coat appeals to you?

    Aesthetic preference: it shapes the ranking without ruling any breed out. Grooming time is covered by the previous question.

  5. How close do you want your cat to be? (required question)

    1 = an independent cat that lives its own life, 5 = a constant shadow, Ragdoll or Sphynx style.
